TALENT SHOW

ELLISON TALENT SHOW!

It's never too early to start working on a special act for the talent show!
It is not too early to start thinking about the Ellison Talent Show. Students could be working on their talent throughout the school year. Students in grades 1-6 are invited to perform. Reviews of the acts will take place on April 28 & 29 after school. The Talent Show will take place on May 13 with the rehearsal date probably being the day before, May 12, after school.
Guidelines:
  • Students in grades 1-6 may participate.
  • A student may participate in no more than 2 acts.
  • Acts should run at 3 minutes or under for grades !-3 and less than 5 minutes for grades 4-6.
  • All acts must be family friendly to all ages. Please monitor costumes, song lyrics and routines. The Review Judges may suggest some alternatives if needed.
  • ALL VOCAL PERFORMANCES MUST BE REVIEWED AND PERFORMED WITH ACCOMPANIMENT CD'S OR iPods. Start searching for those accompaniment resources NOW! Do not come to auditions and sing along with a performance CD and then tell us that an accompaniment CD will be secured. It's not a fair representation of a student's talent if a student sings along with an artist. Many times an accompaniment CD can not be found, so, please plan ahead for the Review date. Please try to make sure that CD's and iPods are compatible for use on a simple stereo system. You are welcome to come to the music room to test them out before the audition date.

INSTRUMENT INFUSION

 INSTRUMENT INFUSION

"Instrument Infusion" is a program sponsored by the Saint Joseph Arts Council.  Fifth graders will attend the Infusion at MWSU. They will experience getting to hear and play a variety of instruments in preparation for possibly joining the band or strings program the following year. It is a fun and informative experience for the students. This will be the fourth year for the Infusion and it has always been very successful. We will attend the event on May 8. We will depart from Ellison at 11:30 and attend the Infusion from 12:00 - 2:00. Permits to attend will be sent home with the fifth graders closer to the date. The forms will also be posted on the"Permits and Forms" tab on "Mrs. Tritten's Blog Page."

THROUGHOUT THE YEAR!
Be sure to look over the "Class Calendar." Important dates, especially concert dates are posted there. Concert, Symphony, Talent Show Auditions, Talent Show & Instrument Infusion dates are posted each month in the Smoke Signals, providing two opportunities to know the dates well in advance. Dates of additional "ventures" will be posted as soon as they become available. Notes will be sent home with your child prior to their event. These notes will also include "permits to attend." If you know that an event  is coming soon and your child has not brought home the note/permit, additional permits can be highlighted and printed off of this site.
OUR NEXT CONCERT!!!!!

It is very exciting getting ready for our next concert which will be on Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 P.M. in the Ellison gym! The kindergarteners are busy getting ready to take you on a little trip to China. While there, you will be meeting our new friends, the short little boy with a long name, Tiki Tiki Tembo-No So Rimbo-Icka Na Noo Na-Konna Ron Tombo,  Mother, Wing, Ling Ling, Ping Ping, an old man, flowers, an orchestra of boys and little Chinese girls complete with fans.

Permits to attend have been sent home with the Kindergarten students. If you did not receive one, please get in touch with me or have your child come to the music room and get another. You can also go to my Blog sight to find one that you can highlight and then print off.  All students must return a slip. Let me repeat…ALL students must return the remission slip indicating their attendance one way or another.

Students are to be in their classrooms no later than 6:50. Attire for the students is to just dress nicely.

We can't wait to see you there!

These students joined over 150 other SJSD fourth-sixth graders for rehearsal and a public concert on March 15 at Frederick Blvd. Baptist Church. Concert

Each elementary school in the district  may only take 10 students.Over 20 students auditioned for Ellison's  10 positions this year. The competition was strong! Congratulations to all who auditioned. You all did a marvelous job. All Fourth and Fifth graders have another opportunity to audition again next year. Keep up the great work!

There is hardly a more beautiful and pure sound than that of children singing.

THERE'S A NEW "KID" ON THE BLOCK
We would like to welcome Mr. Parks, our new music student teacher. Mr. Parks joined us in January and will be here until the end of April. He has observed for several weeks and now has taken over with most of the instruction.

Mr. Parks comes to us from Kansas City as a transfer to Missouri Western State University. He, his wife and two children presently live in St. Joe. He enjoys the students and the students are enjoying him, too. I don't know, though………he says he enjoys doing lunch room duty! Hmmm…..  Actually, it has served as a very good opportunity to get to know the students better and learn more names.

If you're in the building, feel free to stop by and introduce yourself and welcome Mr. Parks to Ellison. Don't come during class time, though, because he'll be busy doing what he loves doing………..teaching Ellison Elementary Students.
